Money over Health

The government seems to be getting involved in all aspects of our lives lately. Trans fats are banned, we will be taxed on sugary sodas...yet all they keep doing about the smoking epidemic is raising prices and state taxes. People will continue to smoke. Cigarettes could go up to $30 a pack and there would still be people buying (I suspect many of us would switch to 100's). Weed is illegal, though its not as bad as cigarettes are. Why not ban cigarettes? At least only make them available overseas, and not online. If there weren't any cigarettes to buy, I wouldn't smoke. I couldn't smoke - I am sure cigarettes kill a lot more people per year than soda and Big Macs combined. If you really want to get involved in our lives...give us easier access to preventive health care and NO access to cigarettes. It IS a drug, why not treat it like one?
